Caravan and Camping Car Events in Australia in 2018

Fourty years ago, going on holiday in a caravan wasn’t necessarily something you wanted to boast about. Back then, motorhomes and campervans were rather cramped and with limited amenities and, let’s be honest, they were considered quite uncool.

This time is long gone though, and companies catering for independent travellers are aplenty. The number of people choosing to go on holiday in motorhomes, caravans, etc... keeps increasing, and it isn’t a phenomenom limited to Australia, but a worldwide trend. It is so popular that there are even AirBnB-type of Apps for landowners to advertise their land to happy campers.

It has become such a massive market that you will find exhibitions showcasing camping cars, caravans and motorhomes throughout the year. They are a great way to inspect and compare vehicles from local and national companies, with the convenience of having them all in one place.

Entrance is paying but tickets are usually inexpensive and some of those fairs even offer free re-entry on request. There is also often some kind of entertainment, making it a great family day out.

Caravan, Camping, Boating & 4x4 Expo

This event will feature over 180 businesses specialised in caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes, camping gear, and boats if you fancy opening up your horizons. There will also be ‘complementary’ companies offering holidays and touring information and insurance services. Entertainment, competitions, prizes to win and food will be available on site.

South Queensland Caravan, Camping, Boating & Fishing Expo

One of the region’s largest events with over 150 local and national companies, you will find anything you might need to holiday in style in a camper trailer or motorhome. Boating is also represented here, and if you need camping gear and accessories, there will be a lot of products for you to choose from.

Cairns Expo

Claiming to be ‘the region’s largest and best-attended event of its kind in far North Queensland’, this 3-day event combines mobile home exhibitors with everything you need for your home such as awnings, bedding, tradesmen, guttering, hardware, homewares, etc.... Be warned: you might go there to look at caravans, but you might leave having bought a spa or solar panels!

Mackay Expo

This event is as much a home show as it is a motorhome show. With over 140 exhibitors attending, you can find what you are looking for, be it accessories for your permanent home or your next house on wheels. Last year’s show was rated highly by visitors, with a quarter of them coming to see motorhomes and campervans.

Gold Coast Expo

If you haven’t got your mobile home at this point in the year, chances are that you are shopping for next year. This trade exhibition conveniently combines caravanning and camping with outdoor living so if you need a super-duper barbecue to go with your motorhome, you can find it all in one place.

The Queensland Outdoor Adventure And Motoring Expo

Camping gear, outdoor equipment, caravans, campervans, motorhomes, 4WD. You name it, they have it. With more than 170 local and regional companies, you will be able to see and compare, literally, thousands of products and vehicles. Although you must buy a ticket the first time you come, return visits are free! You just have to ask as you exit the first time.

The Fraser Coast Expo

Incorporating the former Wide Bay and the Fraser Coast Home Show & Caravan, Camping, 4×4 & Fishing Expo, this year’s exhibition will feature an extended caravan and motorhome section. And if you are thinking of going fishing on your holiday, you will find everything you need there too.

The largest event for motorhomes, caravans and camping gear in the region, it promises to afford great choice with over 180 local and regional exhibitors already booked. There again, re-entry is free as long as you ask for a return pass when you leave.

Cleveland Caravan, Camping, Boating & 4x4 Expo

With a strong emphasis on boats, jet skis and fishing, this exhibition doesn’t neglect caravans or camping so if you are not sure which outdoor activity you fancy, you will get the chance to sample them all in one place and spend a lovely day by a marina.
